Officers on patrol were flagged down by motorists at Wells Avenue for a traffic crash at 12:00 a.m. May 9. Police arrived and found Fred Baldasare in his vehicle on the hillside, across from the lane of travel near Legion Alley. Witnesses said a smaller vehicle driven by a female ran the stop sign at the alley, striking Baldasare’s vehicle, before leaving the scene and proceeding up state Route 45. After one witness said the female’s car turned onto Hibbetts Mill Road, officers proceeded to the area, where they found the suspect car on its side. Police tore out the windshield and extracted Chelsea Baker from the vehicle, calling an ambulance and the highway patrol. Baker was charged with failure to yield, reckless operation, failure to report an accident and driving under suspension.
