St. Clair Township Police Reports for 5-21

Officers responded Sunday to a report of two people passed out in a vehicle in the middle of Dresden Avenue near state Route 170, where they found two volunteer firefighters who said they had removed the keys from the ignition to keep the driver from leaving. The driver, Randy L. Schneider, 23, no address listed, was charged with OVI. He and his passenger were released to his mother. According to Sheriff Ray Stone, Schneider is an unpaid county reserve deputy and department dispatcher who has been suspended pending outcome of the case.

Walmart employees reported Monday a man took two air conditioners and ran with them through the parking lot, getting into a gray pickup truck and leaving the lot. The case is under investigation.

Employees at Kmart reported Monday a man walked out with two air conditioners in a shopping cart and when a clerk asked to see a receipt, he held up a white piece of paper and kept walking out the door. A manager then asked to see the receipt, and the man walked to a silver truck, where he began placing the units into the bed. Another clerk approached him, and the man hit the clerk with one of the air conditioners, pinning him against the truck. The clerk was able to recover the units before the truck was driven off.

Mail was reported stolen from a mailbox on Stagecoach Road Monday.

Catherine Williams, Grimm’s Bridge Road, reported Sunday having turned from her driveway when someone threw an object, striking and damaging her vehicle.

William Bailey, Church Street, reported his vehicle stolen from his driveway. It was later recovered by the highway patrol on Osbourne Road.

A Mrs. Miller who works for Anderson Merchandise inside the local Walmart reported her hand-held scanner was in a shopping cart and someone pushed the cart away. The scanner has not been found.

A Mrs. Cartwright, Fisher Avenue, reported someone spray painted derogatory words on a playhouse on her property.
