Highway Patrol for 5-4

Jacqueline K. Harris, 61, Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, was heading west on 10th Street Extension in Yellow Creek Township at 8:05 a.m. Friday and attempted to turn left onto Franklin Street when she collided with Rita Koopman, 51, Willow Lane, Wellsville, who attempted to make a right-hand turn onto 10th Street Extension from Franklin Street. Both Harris and Koopman contend they were on the correct side of the road at the time of collision. No citations were issued due to lack of evidence.

Jared M. Coil, 26, Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, was traveling south on Lisbon Road in Center Township at 8:35 p.m. Thursday when he traveled off the left side of the road and hit an embankment before stopping in the middle of the road. According to several witnesses, who also provided information to Lisbon police, Coil, who denied driving or owning the van in question and refused to provide a statement, was the driver at the accident scene and had been at a motorcycle repair shop in Lisbon throughout the day in possession of the van but did not have the title or proof of insurance. Coil was later found at the repair shop intoxicated and slurring his speech. He was cited for failure to control, hit/skip, failure to reinstate license and OVI.

Kathleen Perry, 67, McDonald, was heading south on state Route 11 in Elkrun Township at 10:11 p.m. Wednesday when she was hit by Ross W. Resneder, 26, Moore Street, Lisbon, who was driving north in the southbound lanes and came to rest on the grass median. Perry later came to rest on the berm of the southbound lanes. Resneder was cited for going wrong way on a one-way highway.

Jennifer J. Williams 34, Alliance, was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of state Route 165 and U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township at 2:35 p.m. Monday when she was hit by Amy S. Hurford, 48, North Shore Driver, Beloit, who failed to stop at the red light on state Route 165. Hurford was also hit by Thomas R. Fiscus, 29, Stratton Road, Salem, who was heading east on U.S. Route 62 and had the right of way. Hurford was cited for a red light violation.

Cameron Lease Croxton, 23, Miller Road, Leetonia was heading west on Old Route 558 in Salem Township at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the left side of the road into a ditch. Croxton was cited for failure to control.

Patrick M. Bias, 29, Lisbon Street Northeast, Minerva, was heading east on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 2:20 p.m. Thursday when he rear-ended George R. Weikart, 58, Georgetown Road, Salem, and then landed in a ditch. Bias said his brakes were not working properly, and a tow truck driver confirmed this, noting less brake pressure than normal. No citations were issued on account of vehicle defect.
