County woman dies in Pennsylvania accident

A New Manchester woman died Thursday after the car she was driving struck another one head-on in Robinson Township, Pa., authorities said.

Whitney Chipps, 19, was pronounced dead at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, and an autopsy was scheduled for Friday, a spokeswoman for the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Chipps, a 2012 graduate of Oak Glen High School and a former honors students, was driving in the 1200 block of Silver Lane in Robinson Township when she sideswiped one vehicle and struck another one head-on, Robinson Township police Chief Dale Vietmeier told the paper.

The 27-year-old male in the other car was taken the Allegheny General Hospital for treatment. His identity was not released.
