Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 5-3
Family Dollar, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday a woman attempted to shoplift two Febreeze candles, a hat, a tablecloth, a bottle of Dawn dish soap, a bottle of Mr. Clean Cleaner, two air freshners and two tire gauges. When confronted by the manager, the woman, Bobbi Jo Mosser, took the items back inside and placed them on the counter. The items totaled nearly $37. Mosser, 46, Fair Avenue, Salem, was charged with theft.
Deputies assisted a 94-year-old woman, who Columbiana EMS and her family were attempting to convince to be evaluated at the Salem Regional Medical Center at 1 p.m. Thursday. When everyone arrived at her home on Nold Drive, Columbiana, the woman locked herself in the house and threatened to harm herself instead of letting them take her from the home. Deputies used a key to get inside and escorted her to the ambulance.
Mike Labate, Lakewood Chemical, Darlkington Road, Negley, reported at 11:48 p.m. Thursday two steel silos were hauled away from the property by someone about a week to 10 days earlier. Labate claimed a member of the Middleton Township road crew saw people there loading the silos onto a tilt bed trailer. The two silos are reportedly valued at $100,000 total.
Melissa Crowl, Winona Road, Salem, reported at 9:35 p.m. Thursday a young man was standing along the roadway jumping out into traffic, yelling and making obscene gestures at passing cars. He was last seen walking into the KOA campground. Deputies spoke to the owners of the campground, who said the person deputies were looking for has some mental issues and the owner would watch him until his father comes back from work.
Mike Runzo, Case Road, Beloit, reported at 7:56 p.m. Thursday someone stole a row boat and he attempted to have them come back to shore at Westville Lake. However, they took the boat to the other end, abandoned it and fled on foot. Deputies spoke to others fishing in the same area and were able to learn the names of the two men allegedly involved. The matter is under investigation with possible charges pending.
