Wellsville Police Reports for 4-18

Officer Saraniti and K-9 Chief were called at 5:18 p.m. on April 12 to a traffic stop at Ninth and Center streets for a vehicle sniff after the officer on scene discovered a suspected crack pipe on the person of driver Jason Tice. Chief indicated to front passenger-side door, prompting a search of the vehicle. No actual narcotics were found, but police did find “tear-offs” on the floor of the interior, as well as more than $1,000 cash on Tice. Chief indicated to the presence of narcotics on the currency, which was seized by officers.

Police were called for a fight at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Main Street at 11:50 p.m. April 12. Upon arrival, officers spoke to James Tipton, who was bleeding from the mouth and said that Michael Russell had “sucker-punched” him in the face, then departed, heading south on Riverside Avenue. Tipton said he had attempted to intervene in an argument between Russell and a female at the bar. An officer located Russell in Mulberry Alley between Sixth and Seventh streets with blood on his shirt. Russell stated Tipton had spat in his face, prompting him to strike Tipton. Russell was taken to the station and given a court summons for assault.
