Liverpool Township Police Reports for 4-9

An officer on patrol noticed the front door on a house at 2080 Bluff St. opened with no one around. He checked the residence and found no one inside and secured the door. He notified the owner of the property.

An officer was called to assist a trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol who had stopped a vehicle for traveling 67 miles per hour on state Route 7. The driver, Lara Battagla, no age or address listed, reportedly had multiple warrants in Columbiana and Stark counties, including one for escape. The officer stood by until Trooper Kevin Thompson issued citations for speeding and driving under suspension and until Deputy Jasper Cannon took Battagla into custody.

Darlene Snyder, Price Street, reported being contacted by a person claiming to be from the Publishers Clearing House, notifying her she had won $2.2 million and a 2014 Mercedes Benz. Snyder reported she was advised she only had to purchase a $500 Walmart gift card and call a phone number to ask for a certain person. Knowing it was a scam, Snyder gave officers the phone number, which they called. However, the person on the other end hung up after learning it was a police officer calling.
