Highway Patrol Reports for 4-14

John Kundracik, 60, of New Middletown, was stopped in traffic on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 10:35 a.m. Friday when his Jetta was struck in the rear by an Alero driven by Carole McCoy, 70, North Pearl Street, Columbiana, who was cited for assured cleared distance. The trooper also intends to request McCoy be retested because of some confusion she exhibited following the accident and the fact she is on multiple medications.

A pickup truck belonging to Robert Jones, state Route 517, Lisbon, was found abandoned after having struck a tree on Trinity Church Road in Center Township about 5 a.m. Saturday. A trooper went to the Jones residence, and Jones told him he sold the truck in a February to a man he knew only as Dude. Jones then took the trooper to where he thought Dude last lived but was told Dude no longer resided there. The trooper was able to get a phone number and reached Dude, whose name is Charles Butcher, 49, Woodvale Road, Leetonia. Butcher said he was on his way to work when he wrecked and left the scene because he did not want to be late. Butcher was cited for failure to control.
