Columbiana County Common Pleas for 4-8

An East Liverpool man, who broke into four homes last December, pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to attempted burglary and to three counts of burglary, all third-degree felonies. Zachary C. Shingler, 28, Dewey Avenue, faces up to 12 years in prison and a $40,000 fine. Sentencing is set for June 5.

Shingler broke into the home of Victoria Mitchell, Park Boulevard, on Dec. 8 through Dec. 9; Robin Bundy, McKinnon Avenue, East Liverpool, Dec. 16; Theresa Landis, Park Boulevard, Dec. 21; and attempted to break into the home of Doris Sanford, Park Boulevard, on Dec. 15. During the break-ins Shingler reportedly took various items of jewelry, a 20-gauge shotgun, a pellet gun and a revolver. Additionally, he broke glass and doors to gain access.

Michael W. Plavka III, 38, Canton, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for violating his probation on a burglary conviction and a failure to support dependents from 2007.
