Highway Patrol Reports for 3-14
Emilio Sente Jaurez, 36, of Canton, was cited for failure to control and driving without a license after going off the road and striking an embankment while driving on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 12:08 a.m. Saturday. Jaurez said he lost control while swerving to miss a deer, but there was no evidence to support his claim. Jaurez lacked a driver’s license and a green card but did have a Guatemalan identification card. The patrol contacted the local offices of the Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement but the federal agencies were not interested in Jaurez since there were no warrants for his arrest. Jaurez, who said he has been living in the country for the past 15 years, was issued his citations and released.
Raymond D. Messersmith, 47, Midland, Michigan, was eastbound on U.S. 30 in Hanoverton Township at 9:50 a.m. Monday and went off the right side into a guardrail face. He was cited for failure to control.
Andrew J. Smith, state Route 517, Lisbon, reported to the Salem Police Department at 1 p.m. Saturday his vehicle was stolen from the Side Door Bar. Troopers found the unoccupied vehicle overturned in an embankment off the southbound lane of Cunningham Road in Salem Township at 3:22 a.m. Sunday.
Austin W. Odell, 16, Jennings Avenue, Salem, was eastbound on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 10 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into two mailboxes and posts. He was cited for failure to control.
