East Liverpool Police Reports for 3-31
Officers on patrol Friday saw a man they knew had an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass and criminal damaging and took Javen D. Call, 18, into custody. While conducting a search of Call, officers reported feeling an item underneath his shorts and discovered he had a pill bottle containing white pills and a small baggy of marijuana. He also reportedly had in his possession a debit card belonging to another person, which Call told officers he found on the ground, saying it didn’t work. In addition to the warrants, Call was charged with possession of marijuana, with additional charges pending.
Officers responded Saturday to a report of a man breaking mirrors off parked vehicles on Moore Street. The caller kept the man in sight as he spoke to the dispatcher, also reporting the man had taken a bicycle off of a porch and was on Grant Street. Upon arrival in the area, officers reported seeing the man pushing the bike then wedging it between a parked vehicle and high curb before he continued walking. The man, later identified as William R. Potts, 24, Ridgeway Street, was ordered to stop but kept on walking until Capt. Tom Clark pointed his Taser at him, ordering Potts to the ground. Officers followed a trail from Potts’ home to where he was taken into custody, reporting more than 20 vehicles tampered with, with five having visible damage. Potts was charged with five counts of criminal damaging and one count of theft for the bicycle.
