Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 3-30

John W. Kelly was taken into custody after a chase through the Carmel Achor and Sprucevale areas of Middleton Township at about 5:30 p.m. Friday. The chase started on Union Ridge Road when deputies tried to stop the Cavalier for having expired plates. Kelly’s vehicle reached speeds of up to 75 mph, deputies said. Kelly allegedly ran one car off the road near the intersection of Carmel Achor and Sprucevale, and nearly hit the Rogers Elementary building when it went through the school lot. The car finally pulled into Carmel Achor Cemetery, where deputies caught up with the passenger, Theresa DeCapio. Kelly went running into the woods and was later taken into custody on state Route 7 south of Rogers.

Janice Duncan, Haiti Road, Salineville, reported at 5:39 p.m. Friday harassment from Matt Swartz, who is reportedly accusing Duncan of turning him in to Children Services. Swartz also reportedly made a comment that he was going to burn her house down.

Darlene Sinsley, South 12th Street, Beloit, reported at 6:08 p.m. Friday her BFI trash container was stolen again.

Sheila Carmelo, Randel Road, Hanoverton, reported at 8:01 p.m. Friday her sister-in-law’s boyfriend, Cody Johnson, 21, state Route 644, Kensington, continued entering the house without knocking and reportedly threatened Carmelo earlier in the week. Johnson said he wanted to see his 3-year-old daughter, and since they would not come to the door, he let himself in. After Carmelo told him to leave to which Johnson refused and said he would keep coming back, Johnson was charged with criminal trespass.

James Sosack, Sixteen School Road, Irondale, reported at 8:04 a.m. Saturday an unknown vehicle tore up his yard by doing doughnuts in the yard twice.

Max Clapsadle, Mechanicstown Road, Hanoverton, reported Saturday someone drove through his yard and left ruts the evening before.

A Shelby Road, Lisbon, man reported at 1:27 p.m. Saturday his 8-year-old son, who has ADHD, threw a cup at his 4-year-old brother before hitting him in the head. The deputy suggested the father seek professional help for his son.

Stephany Bruderly, Walnut Street, Leetonia, reported at 3:23 p.m. Saturday several harassing messages via text and social media from Sheryl Laraski, the girlfriend of Bruderly’s ex-husband, directed toward Bruderly and her daughter.
