Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 3-19
Karla Miller, Minerva, reported Saturday she has been receiving harassing calls of a sexual nature from a blocked number. She was advised to also contact her phone company.
Kim Andric, Whinnery Road, Salem, called for a deputy at 9:48 p.m. Friday because she wanted to know the procedure for evicting her daughter.
Kathy McClain, Whipporwill Drive, Hanoverton, reported someone was discharging firearms in the neighborhood at 3:20 p.m. Friday. A deputy spoke with Tracy Hart, telling her firearms could not be discharged in the area because of the proximity of so many homes and state Route 172 being nearby. Hart was also advised to keep ATVs off the road.
Sebastian Schubert, South 12th Street, Beloit, reported at 10:40 p.m. Saturday there has been suspicious activity at his property in recent days, with weird knocking being heard on the windows and muddy footprints found outside. A deputy searched the area but did not see anyone about.
Melvin Gorby, state Route 170, Negley, reported at 5:11 p.m. Friday he loaned his vehicle to his daughter, who is now refusing to return the vehicle. They then agreed on a payment plan but she is not adhering to the terms. Gorby called back the next day to say he had since retrieved his vehicle.
Joe Daniels, Depot Street, Rogers, reported at 12:57 a.m. Sunday receiving harassing calls from his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Souders. The deputy spoke to Souders, who said she was calling Daniels about getting their daughter back. Arrangements were made for Souders to pick up the daughter on Sunday.
Paula Evans of Carrollton called at 9:36 a.m. Saturday to say her daughter, Kayla Smith, had been assaulted by her boyfriend at Brookview Apartments on Washington Street, Salineville. Smith said they began pushing each other during an argument, and both of them declined to press charges. The boyfriend, Greg Christian, agreed to leave for the night, as did Smith, with her mother.
Dennis Stock from the East Palestine police department reported seeing two people around storage units just over the village line on state Route 170 in Unity Township at 12:43 p.m. Saturday. A deputy arrived but did not see anyone around.
Jim Sturgeon, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported Saturday someone stole a large amount of firewood from the end of his driveway.
Joseph Daniels, Depot Street, Rogers, reported at 2:13 p.m. Sunday Sarah Souders kicked open the back door because it was locked. According to Daniels, she lived there for about four years, but moved out nearly a month ago. Deputies explained it is still her home and if she kicks the door open and damages the property she has a right to do so.
