Police were called to the Main Street residence of Ray Parsons at 12:18 a.m. Feb. 9 for an incident involving Parson’s girlfriend, Rose Anderson, who had struck him in the face several times after an argument arose during a night of drinking. Parsons said he left the home for a while, but after he returned, Anderson resumed her assault and cut him with a knife as well. Parsons refused medical treatment. Anderson was arrested, charged with domestic violence and transported to the county jail.
Officers were called to Independence Square at 10:40 a.m. Feb. 7. Paula Parks said her 10-year-old daughter had told her that the father of one of the other neighborhood children threatened to choke her for throwing a snowball at his young daughter. Police located the father, Steven Wright, who said he never threatened to choke any child. He claimed Parks’ daughter had shoved his daughter, prompting him to confront Parks about the incident. All parties were advised to stay away from each other.
Police stopped William Earl Show, who was riding on an ATV down old State Route 7 on Feb. 8 at 8:45 p.m. The officer informed Show that it was illegal to operate an ATV on the road. When asked for his driver’s license, Show could only produce a state ID card. Show was cited for an unsafe vehicle and failure to reinstate, and was advised to push his ATV to the campground.
