Columbiana County Sheriff Reports for 2-3

Charlie Rutledge, Wood Street, East Palestine, reported a man was cutting up trees on his property and he made the man put the wood back. Rutledge told deputies this was not the first time the man has cut wood on his property and, although he did not want to press charges, he wanted the man advised if he is found on the property again, Rutledge will file charges.

Aaron Stevens, owner of the Travelers Motel, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported Saturday that he arrived at the motel and his employee was not there but that he sent a text to her and learned she had had a family emergency in Cleveland and asked a tenant to watch over things while she was gone. Stevens told deputies he was trying to text her about $1,595 missing from the motel but had not heard from her. Deputies spoke to the tenant who had been left in charge who said the employee had also told her at 6 a.m. she had a family emergency, showed her a few things about clock-ins and what rooms to clean. At 1 p.m., the employee told the tenant she was on her way back to the motel and that the money was hidden at the motel, which the tenant advised Stevens. On Sunday, deputies received a notice to call Stevens but had been unable to reach him.

Stephanie Bruderly, Walnut Street, Leetonia, reported Sunday her ex-boyfriend has been sending her harassing emails. She was advised the procedure for acquiring a protection order.
