Man remains hospitalized following accident

LISBON – A Lisbon man remains hospitalized after his car collided with a semi on U.S. Route 30 Wednesday.

The highway patrol is continuing to investigate the crash that sent Joseph A. Hicks, 48, to Aultman Hospital in Canton.

According to the patrol, Hicks was driving a 2000 Chrysler 300 on U.S. 30 just west of the state Route 9 intersection in Kensington at 6:57 p.m. and went left of center into the path of a 2013 Freightliner driven by Oscar G. Vera, 34, of El Paso, Texas.

Vera was not injured. His passenger, Jesus Roias Jr., 33, also of El Paso, sustained minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene.

Hicks was flown to Canton by Stat MedEvac with what the patrol described as critical injuries. A condition update on Thursday was not available.

The patrol believes alcohol could be a factor and a blood sample was taken from Hicks after the crash.

No charges have been filed at this time and the patrol is awaiting results of the blood sample, according to their report.
