East Liverpool Police for 1-4

Two people were charged with possession of marijuana after an officer saw a man exiting a room at the Vista Motel on Dec. 27. When the man, later identified as Joseph E. Davis, Lisbon Street, saw the police cruiser, he reportedly quickly went back inside the room, but before he closed the door, the officer reported seeing Chelsea Baker, 23, McIntosh Road, Wellsville inside. She had an active warrant and officers knocked on the door, reporting the room had an overwhelming smell of marijuana coming from inside. Davis reportedly gave consent to search the room, denying there was any marijuana inside, but K-9 officer Ivo alerted on several areas where marijuana was found, according to reports. Marijuana was also reportedly found in Baker’s purse.

Rebecca C. Johnston, Wilbert Avenue, reported her food stamp card still containing $400 was stolen from her residence.

Officials of the Oriole’s Club, Dresden Avenue, reported a member went to the restroom, leaving his belongings on the bar, and returned to find his money and the stranger who had been sitting beside him gone. Surveillance video showed the man, who was not a member, waited outside the door until someone left and grabbed it so he could enter the members-only club. Video also showed him taking the money from the bar and leaving, according to reports. The man was identified and charges are pending.

Responding to an alarm at East Liverpool High School, officers, including canines, searched but found nothing amiss.

Employees of Gina’s Drive-Thru reported a woman came in wearing a hoody with the hood pulled up, with what appeared to be a knife handle sticking from the pocket. She attempted to get into the door where one employee was standing but the employee held the door shut, and the woman left. Officers could not locate her.

Erica Burke, Harrison Street, reported a man she knows has been calling and harassing her. She was advised to see the law director.

Elizabeth Price, First Avenue, reported her home entered and an Xbox and a Kindle stolen.

Sheriff’s Deputy Luke Skidmore was eastbound on state Route 39 in a patrol vehicle when it struck a large puddle of water and hydroplaned, striking a concrete wall. Minor damage was reported to the cruiser.

Joseph Bernardi reported his all-terrain vehicle taken from the home of his son’s girlfriend on Park Avenue.

Thomas J. Sparks, no address listed, reported his license plate stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in a private lot on Broadway.

Brian D. Miller, Almont Street, reported returning home to find the door forced and a laptop computer missing.

Kelly R. Bailey, address not listed, reported her son stores his bicycle at a Smithfield Street residence, and the resident advised her he had sold the boy’s bike.

Officers responded to a report of a man lying in the middle of Dresden Avenue and found Martin Schwartz, 53, no address listed, lying in a parking lot, severely beaten. He was uncertain if it was one or two people who came up behind him. He was taken to the local emergency room then to a Pittsburgh hospital, and the investigation is continuing.

Michele L. Groves, 33, address not listed, was reportedly seen walking from a known drug house and was arrested for public intoxication.

William J. Wolfe, no address listed, reported he gave a man he knows a ride and stopped at the store en route. When he came back to the vehicle, Wolfe found both his money and the man gone.

Brian D. Miller, Almont Street, reported he and a man he knows were in a fight at his residence and Miller told him to leave. About 20 minutes later, an object was thrown through Miller’s bedroom window.

April Walker, Harvey Avenue, reported confronting her husband about a marital issue and he knocked items from a shelf then left. There was no physical violence reported.

Doris A. Zanders, Mapletree Street, reported her home entered, the thermostat broken and a microwave taken, possibly by a family member.

Sieara Shannon, West Fourth Street, reported she had kicked out her boyfriend and two days later he came to the home to get his belongings. He started taking items not his and shoved her and grabbed her. She wanted a report on file.

Bryce Minto, 18, Carolina Avenue, Chester, W.Va., was southbound on state Route 11 Thursday when his vehicle lost traction and struck a concrete barrier. He was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital.

While westbound on state Route 39 Thursday, Jacqueline Wilson, 65, Old Lincoln Highway, reportedly lost control of her vehicle, striking a guardrail.

While both were northbound on Dresden Avenue Thursday, a vehicle driven by Shawn M. Quarterman, 22, Fifth Avenue, reportedly struck a vehicle driven by James H. McElreath, 56, Center Road. Quarterman was cited for assured clear distance and expired license plates.
