Highway Patrol Reports 1-7
Shania M. Voigt, 17, Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, was eastbound on Carmel Achor Road in Middleton Township at 4:20 p.m. Monday and failed to maintain control and went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. She was cited for failure to control.
Amy L. Moser, 47, state Route 517, Lisbon, was eastbound on state Route 558 in Fairfield Township at 4:59 p.m. Dec. 26 and went off the right side of the road and hit a tree and then went off the left side of the road.
Bradley K. Kiehl, 43, North Front Street, Negley, was northbound on state Route 170 in Middleton Township at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 25 and hit a dog.
Scott A. Bryant, 33, Oak Street, Alliance, was eastbound on Center Road in Knox Township at 2:22 p.m. Dec. 26 and went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. He was cited for failure to control.
Andrew D. Connor, 23, Aetna Street, Salem, was northbound on McCracken Road in Salem Township at 1:58 p.m. Dec. 26 and struck an unoccupied vehicle that was partially in a ditch.
Mervin Jones Jr., 46, Roses Run Road, Salineville, and John T. Eaton, 66, state Route 30, Lisbon, were northbound on state Route 45 in Salem Township at 10:37 a.m. Monday and Kenneth D. Russell, 66, Duck Creek Road, Salem, was southbound and Jones collided with Eaton while passing him and Russell struck Jones’ vehicle, causing it to go off the east side of the road and hit a guardrail. Jones then fled the scene northbound on state Route 45. He was cited with court suspension, hit skip and passing in a hazardous zone. Patricia Eaton, 61, state Route 30, Lisbon, and Jana Hartman, 9, Roseland Drive, Lisbon, were taken to Salem Hospital with possible injuries.
Ronald E. Burger, 69, Butler Grange Road, Salem, was cited for improper backing after he reportedly struck a vehicle driven by Hillary M. Nutter, 20, King Road, Salem, as he attempted to back from Butler Grange Road into a private driveway. Nutter was stopped on the highway at the time.
A vehicle driven south on state Route 7 by Stephen J. Skrinjar, 64, Pine Hollow Road, Rogers, was damaged by a piece of debris that fell from a trailer being pulled north. The other driver continued on without being identified.
A report was released Sunday regarding a Dec. 27 accident that kept state Route 14 closed for 12 hours. According to the report, Justin J. Martin, 42, Littleton, Colo., was driving a tractor-trailer east on state Route 14 when he failed to stop for a traffic light, entering the intersection of state Route 170. His truck struck a northbound vehicle driven by David A. Hardy, 50, Canfield. Both vehicles went off the road, and Hardy’s overturned, striking a utility pole. Hardy was transported to St. Elizabeth in Boardman by East Palestine EMS. State Route 14 was closed while utility crews tried to clear the the roadway of fallen wires and restore power. The wires had fallen onto both vehicles as well as a third passing vehicle. Dorothy Sutton, North Market Street, East Palestine, reported electrical wires were torn from her house as a result of the crash. Martin was cited for the red light violation.
