Park board discusses upcoming projects
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Thompson Park Board discussed several upcoming projects during its meeting this week, including road work.
Superintendent Shawn Rybaczenko told board members that only one bid was received for road work around the municipal pool and that was from West Point Paving for $45,000. The bid was accepted unanimously by the board, with members Mark Hissom and Scott Thornberry absent.
It was also reported that, weather permitting, masonry work will be completed on Pavilion No. 3 this year at a cost of $21,970, with Rybaczenko telling the board he is also seeking cost estimates for a new bathroom at Pavilion No. 1.
At Rybaczenko’s request, the board approved the purchase of signs that can be hung at pavilions, advising when they are being rented for the day. He told board members he had made some signs and put them up in the past, which helped inform people they are not available for use.
After Rybaczenko reported only 19 sponsors participated in this year’s Trunk or Treat event, the board voted not to hold the event next year, with members noting there are many such events held in the area and perhaps people cannot afford to sponsor more than one.
Rybaczenko reported receiving $200 from sale of the golf cart, with the money forwarded to the Fawcett Foundation.
The board agreed to hold no meetings during the months of December and January, with the next regular meeting set for 4 p.m. Feb. 13 in council chambers at City Hall.
