Officials: contractor hired for garage door project
WEST POINT — Madison Township officials will proceed with a summer garage doors project as a contractor for the project has been hired.
During last week’s meeting, trustees approved the quote from Buckeye Garage Door and Supply in the amount of $11,854, which will cover installation of three garage doors placed on the old township garage.
According to Trustee Chairman Wayne Chamberlain, the work handled by Buckeye will include replacement of three doors, along with tracks, while the quote does not include any electrical work.
Buckeye’s quote was the lower of two presented to the township, with Cortland Doors previously providing a quote of $15,740.
The garage door project had been discussed by officials the past few months, and trustees have been mulling over what needed done at the old garage along with who should handle the project.
Meanwhile, Trustee Gary Williams briefly commented on the first public forum hosted by the trustees regarding the proposed replacement operational levy. Trustees look to replace the current four levies, equaling out to 3.5 mills, with one new 3-mill levy to cover various operations in the township.
The first meeting was held Tuesday at West Point Fire Department Station No. 2 in Glasgow, but Williams stated only one person attended. He said the individual expressed support for the levy change.
Trustees will hold a second informational meeting and forum at 7 p.m. June 21 at Point of Mercy Sanctuary, state Route 7, near Beaver Local Schools.
