Medic reportedly takes money clip while on scene of fatal

LISBON — The death of Melvin Bricker on Monday evening also included deputies reportedly finding a money clip belonging to Bricker in the pocket of an EMT paramedic.

Bricker, 72, Saltwell Road, Lisbon, died in a private property accident on his own property when he wrecked in his truck, which he was test driving after doing some mechanical work on it.

Deputies state Bricker’s daughter, April Curfman, told them he had put a new engine in the truck and it appeared the accelerator stuck. Bricker could not get stopped and struck the trees near the back of the property.

According to Deputy Brandon Brown’s report, the coroner’s investigator was called to the scene to investigate the accident and death. Once the investigator concluded the investigation, EMT ambulance personnel were told they could transport Bricker’s body to the funeral home.

Firefighters and EMT personnel removed Bricker’s body from the vehicle. Moments later a fireman reported to deputies he saw a medic with EMT, John McGuire, take a money clip out of Bricker’s pocket and place it into his own pocket. Deputies questioned McGuire about what happened and the money clip was found in his pocket.

The report does not state whether any criminal charges are pending.
