EAST LIVERPOOL — The city of East Liverpool played host Friday afternoon for a program to recognize those assisting in the battle against domestic abuse and victims of crimes during a National Crime Victims’ Rights Week event on the Diamond in downtown East Liverpool.

Organized by victim advocate Tina Keller and assisted by elder victim advocate Cara Rose, Robin Tokorchek of the mayor’s office and Christine Francis of the safety-service director’s office, the 60-minute program included several guest speakers who shared information and stories regarding victims of crimes — including domestic violence and addiction.

More than 50 attendees were on hand for the program, and received information such as what to look for, what to do and how to prevent violent crimes from happening.

Among the speakers were East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane, Sgt. Glenn Kendall of the St. Clair Township Police Department, Daryl Hersh of Ozer Ministries, Nikki Ostick of the Christina Center and city assistant law director Megan Bickerton.

Following the event, attendees were treated to a light lunch.

Keller thanked the local businesses, organizations and community members who donated their time, money and services for Friday’s event.
