Repairs OK’d for township truck

LaCROFT — Liverpool Township trustees gave approval to repairs toward one of the road department’s truck, which was deemed unusable.

Approved was a quote from Steinbinder’s for an estimated $4,132 for installation of a new transmission for the road department’s 1999 Ford F-450 truck.

During his report, road supervisor Chris Bosworth advised the board that, at the time the meeting was taking place, all township’s trucks were in for service with the exception of the Ford F-450, which Bosworth stated needed a new transmission and could not be used at the present time.

“To utilize that truck, we can’t use it regardless,” Bosworth said. “It’s down.”

Bosworth presented the estimate from Steinbinder’s prior to the meeting, which the board gave its approval. Bosworth said the transmission is expected to take 10 hours to install.

In other road department matters, Bosworth also reported the trucks possibly were experiencing fuel issues. He said he had the fuel tested for possible algae, but all tests came back negative. Bosworth said the department has received several filters to change out every three weeks in an attempt to fix the matter.

In addition, Bosworth reported that when weather conditions become favorable, crews will be looking to fill potholes throughout the township. He said roadways were soft and that “they’re going to be everywhere.”
