Township wants to work with city

CALCUTTA — Road supervisor Scott Barrett has told St. Clair Township trustees he wants to establish a working relationship with the city of East Liverpool.

Barrett, the newly-elected 4th Ward councilman in the city, informed the board last week he has talked with Ryan Stovall, mayor of East Liverpool, about some possible plans between the townshp and city crews. He said the mayor seemed receptive of the ideas.

An initial move has the township donating some older road signs to the city as the township recently received newer signage. Barrett reminded trustees that St. Clair Township already has established working relationships with neighboring Liverpool Township, Madison Township, and Ohioville, Pa.

“We’ve never had a good working relationship with (East Liverpool) that well,” Barrett said. “I think with the new administration, with the new people coming in, we can and maybe we’ll work something out and work with them.” In other road department news, Barrett said work was expected to finish on Grimms Bridge later in the day (last Tuesday).

New pipes were installed, he said, with ditching and berming planned that day. Road material was the last thing to be placed.
