Commissioners approve petition

LISBON — A St. Clair Township annexation petition that was withdrawn the first time has been approved by county commissioners after the original flaws were corrected.

Commissioners this week approved the annexation petition of Dan Curnette, who sought their permission to close never used portions of Bloomfield and Chardon avenues that existed only on paper. No one attended the required public hearing that preceded commissioners taking action.

Curnette learned last year his driveway is part of the never used or maintained section of Bloomfield Avenue and that a portion of his land was actually on property owned by the East Liverpool CIC. As part of the deal, the CIC deeded over the 1.3 acres to Curnette.

In other action, commissioners reappointed Wellsville attorney Nick Amato to another four-year term on the county Port Authority board. Amato’s term expired at the end of the year.
