Boyd named new athletic director

EAST LIVERPOOL — An East Liverpool High School graduate and teacher has been tapped as the district’s new athletic director, which was approved unanimously Monday night by the school board.

Nathan Boyd, who has been a sixth-grade science teacher the past two years and an assistant football coach in the district, was selected from among 12 applicants by the board’s athletic committee and administrators.

He succeeds Joshua Ludwig, who chose not to re-apply for the position.

Boyd graduated in 1993 from the district, earned his bachelor’s from the University of Akron and his master’s from Youngstown State University.

His will be a full-time position, with no teaching responsibilities, according to Superintendent Randy Taylor.

He will begin his duties today, and his salary will be $57,441.52 annually.
