AD contract clarified by district treasurer
EAST LIVERPOOL — Among agenda items approved by the city school board last week was a supplemental contract for newly-hired Athletic Director Nathan Boyd.
Boyd was hired by the board Monday as the full-time AD, at an annual salary of $57,441.52, effective Aug. 15, for the 2017-18 school year.
He was also granted a certified extra-curricular appointment as AD for an additional $4,930.44.
After the meeting, Treasurer Kathy Jo Laughlin was asked about the supplemental contract and said it was put on the agenda incorrectly and he only received one contract, but later clarified that Boyd does, in fact, receive the supplemental for any AD activities beyond his 40-hour work week, such as work performed during evenings, summers and holidays.
In other matters, the board approved an agreement with Patriot Industrial Technologies to provide the water treatment program for the district at a cost of $1,925 from July of 2017 through June 2018.
Laughlin explained after the meeting this service is approved each year and is for chemicals to keep the heating and air conditioning system operating.
In personnel matters:
— the board approved Michelle Wright and Kade Reynolds as substitute teachers’ aides, and Heather Barnhouse as a chaperone at Camp Fitch, with Barnhouse to be paid $333.13.
— A list of 26 game workers was also approved for the 2017-18 school year.
— A $375 professional growth stipend was approved for Tonyea Roberts.
— Extended time contracts were granted to Danette Baker and John Dawson, five days each.
— Changes to the athletic code of conduct were also approved.
The next board of education meeting was scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 28.
