WELLSVILLE — The village of Wellsville will honor those who have served in the Armed Forces on Friday as the Wellsville Veterans Memorial Council will hold its Veterans Day program, starting at 10 a.m. today in the Wellsville High School gymnasium.
Guest speaker is former principal/superintendent Paul Blevins. Mayor Nancy Murray, Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church, and the Korean War Veterans Color Guard from the Canton area also are part of the program, which features three students who have prepared speeches signifying the importance of Veterans Day.
The event is free and open to the public. Lunch for the veterans will be served following the program.
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Veterans Day Parade in downtown East Liverpool begins 11 a.m. today.
LISBON — Family Recovery Center will host a “Tribute to Veterans” at 4 p.m. today around the flagpole on the FRC campus, corner of North Market Street and Saltwell Road, Lisbon. The Salem AmVets Post 45 will conduct a ceremony to raise a flag — donated to the agency by Congressman Bill Johnson — which flew over the Capitol building. Lisbon High School student Aliyah Leyman will perform the National Anthem. Featured speaker is Charles D., a U.S. Army veteran living in recovery. A donor appreciation plaque will be unveiled, listing all who contributed to the flagpole project. Light refreshments served following ceremony. LISBON — Lisbon McKinley Elementary will honor military service personnel with a complimentary breakfast at 9 a.m. today. A musical performance by some of the school’s 5th grade students will follow the meal. For reservations, call 330-424-9869.
