Chester announces ‘Hometown Christmas’ activities

CHESTER — The theme of Chester Hometown Christmas on Saturday is “Magic of Christmas”

Children’s activities take place 10 a.m. to noon inside the Badgley Pavilion at Chester City Park. Events include visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a selfie booth, Christmas cards to soldiers, letters to Santa, face painting and a special craft. Cookies and hot cocoa and a raffle of Fiesta Ware vailable. Donations go to the local FISH pantry.

The Chester Volunteer Fire Department has placed a mailbox in front of the fire station where children can place their letters to receive a response from Santa and his team of elves from the North Pole.

The CVFD also will sponsor children’s bingo at noon inside the bottom of the VFW.

Parade lineup begins at 2 p.m. on Virginia Avenue with parade at 3. Those wanting to participate in the parade should call 304-670-2989.

Vendors will be set up along Carolina Avenue. Baked goods, wreaths, wood crafts and more available. If interested in a vendor spot, call Kristi at 330-383-3940.

A craft show will take place 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 121. The Sons of the Legion will be cooking and selling food.
