Three treated following stabbing at Heights Manor

EAST LIVERPOOL — Three people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon following a stabbing incident at the Heights Manor housing complex on North Shady Lane Drive.

According to police, Desarae M. Callehan, 21, reported being attacked by a 17-year-old Wellsville girl she knows in the parking lot behind the building as she was walking to her car to retrieve items she needed for work.

Callehan said the girl exited a van that came speeding into the lot telling her she would cut her throat and pulling out a black pocket knife with which she began attacking Callehan.

Callehan was cut in the neck and her arm when she used it to try and block the knife attack, police reported.

When Callehan began yelling, her sister, Diane L. Callehan, 23, also of North Shady Lane, came outside to help and was allegedly attacked by the teenager, who cut her on the cheek below her eye.

Meanwhile, Breanna N. Shreve, 18, also a resident of the housing complex, was in the parking lot, taking pictures of her vehicle which was reportedly vandalized by the juvenile with the knife and the juvenile’s mother, Misty R. Williams, 40, Main Street, Wellsville.

When the van came into the parking lot, Williams reportedly exited it and began punching Shreve, who escaped the alleged attack by rolling down a steep hill behind the building. Before she escaped, Shreve told police, Williams stuck her fingers into Shreve’s nostrils, pulling her nose back and ripping it open.

Officers arriving on the scene reported finding a large amount of blood on the sidewalk, steps and a vehicle near the steps as well as two vehicles which had been vandalized with food thrown on them and graffiti written on them.

Desarae Callehan received six stitches in her neck and two in her arm at East Liverpool City Hospital, where Shreve was also treated for the injury to her nose. Diane Callehan also went to the emergency room but declined treatment.

Officers said they believe the incident stemmed from a dispute over a man who was in Shreve’s apartment when they were on the scene, who had apparently been staying with the Williams family in Wellsville.

Detective Greg Smith said charges are pending against Williams and her daughter.
