Donation made in memory of late EL police captain
EAST LIVERPOOL — The “Cops and Kids” program has received a sizable donation in the memory of the late Norman “Nemo” Curtis.
According to Matthew Watson, funeral director, and Mike Sigler, general manager, of Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes, funds were raised on the funeral home’s online memorial and fundraising website tmcfunding.com (Treasured Memories).
The Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes then matched those funds and donated an additional $175.
“He was passionate about the Cops and Kids program and would be proud to know that the total funds raised in his memory was $2,750,” a release reads.
Curtis was a captain with the ELPD for 38 years before retiring in 2012. He then worked part-time for the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes.
The Cops and Kids program is Dec. 10.
In 2015, the ELPD took 86 kids shopping for Christmas gifts as each child was able to spend $225. Coats and other items may be donated through the Community Resource Center.
Those wishing to contribute to the program may do so by sending donations to East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane, 126 West 6th St., East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
