City police respond to overdose calls


EAST LIVERPOOL — Police and emergency personnel responded to two drug overdoses Thursday, one of which resulted in a fatality at a downtown bar.

Officers were called at 1:48 p.m. to Berdine’s Bar on West Sixth Street for an unresponsive man, where they found a 54-year-old Jackson Street man.

Despite the efforts of Lifeteam paramedics, the man died at the scene, according to police.

At 5:45 p.m., police and Lifeteam responded to 830 Cadmus Street for an unresponsive 24-year-old woman, who was found in an upstairs bedroom.

Several doses of Narcan were administered, reviving the woman, who was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital, according to police.

The woman’s children were present at the time of the overdose, and Children’s Services was called and arrived on the scene as officers cleared.
