Village man missing

WELLSVILLE – According to a dispatcher with the Wellsville Police Department, there is an ongoing search for a village man who has been missing since late last week.

Despite numerous attempts Monday by The Review staff, both in person and via the telephone, officers with the village police department did not provide any information. It was the dispatcher, around 8 p.m. Monday, who finally did confirm the man missing as Zane Carter.

According to Steubenville-based television station WTOV9, via information reportedly received from Wellsville Police, Carter, 24, was last seen Friday, Aug. 8, in the village.

According to those reports, Carter is described as a 6-foot-5, 215-pound black man with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen, the report says, between 6-7 p.m. Friday near 14th Street.

A prayer vigil for Carter was held last night at the village gazebo, according to social media accounts.

Those with any information on Carter’s whereabouts are asked to contact the Wellsville PD at 330-532-1522.
