Officials disappointed by nurses’ rejection of latest proposal
EAST LIVERPOOL -Officials at East Liverpool City Hospital are expressing their disappointment with the decision by the hospital’s nurses to reject the administration’s latest contract proposal.
According to a press release issued Wednesday by the hospital, negotiating teams for ELCH and the East Liverpool Nurses Association (ELNA) had signed a “unanimous tentative agreement” last Wednesday which would have brought closure to the months-old contract dispute and a “difficult negotiation process.”
Information on the results of the vote was not available Wednesday night, and union representatives issued no statement commenting on the outcome.
In its press release, the hospital said officials would be taking a step back before deciding what their next move would be. “We are very disappointed by the result of the latest outcome of the ELNA’s contract vote,” the statement read. “At this time ELCH will regroup to determine what actions to take next.”
