School board terminates LaCroft custodian
EAST LIVERPOOL – Citing several reasons, the school board Wednesday night terminated the employment of LaCroft custodian Shawn Hill, who previously worked at North Elementary.
Following an executive session during the special meeting, the board returned to pass a resolution outlining Hill’s termination, effective immediately, on the basis of violation of written rules and regulations, dishonesty, insubordination, and/or other acts of misfeasance, malfeasance or nonfeasance and the use of threatening language toward supervisory or management personnel or other board personnel.
The resolution specified that Hill informed an employee that photos of another school district employee that he has or had in his possession were going to be released by a person he knows and that he made the statement in a threatening manner.
Other specific grounds listed as reasons for Hill’s termination were dishonesty regarding the content of the photographs and other matters during the investigation regarding the photos; failure to follow prior directive regarding the treatment of co-employees; insubordinate behavior toward the director of buildings and grounds; and smoking on school grounds.
Board members made no comment on the action taken nor did they elaborate on the subject matter of the photographs in question.
Treasurer Todd Puster said after the meeting that Hill had worked for the district a couple years.
In other personnel matters at the meeting, the board approved a $1,050 longevity bonus for OAPSE member Leona Quimby, who has 40 years of service to the district; Billie Conrad as a substitute teachers’ aide; and Sherry Hall as substitute bus aide.
A second executive session was held during the meeting to discuss discipline, with no comment made or action taken afterward.
