Water, sewer departments running smoothly

EAST LIVERPOOL – The Board of Public Utilities learned Thursday both water and sewer departments are running pretty much routinely this winter.

Members were advised during a brief meeting by sewage Superintendent Bob Wright he had ordered valves for a clarifier which will be down until repairs can be made, so employees are operating everything manually until then.

Water Superintendent Keith Clark reported some discussion has been held about some work that will be needed at the water plant this year, also saying, “A lot of things are going on but there is no status (report) on the projects yet.”

Board members were presented with a tentative budget by utilities Director Bob Disch to look over before it’s submitted to the administration, and he also said he will contact City Council about getting legislation prepared for the annual bidding and purchase of chemicals, meters and equipment.
