Council gives go ahead for new cruisers
EAST LIVERPOOL – City Council Tuesday night gave the final go-ahead for the lease/purchase of two new cruisers for the police department.
During a brief meeting that held little business, council approved legislation authorizing the board of control to purchase two Ford four-wheel-drive cruisers from Grand Ford through the state cooperative purchasing program.
Going through this program allows a public entity to avoid the bidding process.
The cruisers will cost $32,475 each and will be purchased through a lease-to-own agreement.
Police Chief John Lane had reported earlier that his cruisers have high mileage and are beginning to cost the department in repairs.
In other matters, Mayor Jim Swoger reported he will give his state of the city address during the Feb. 19 meeting, also having other department heads report on their departments’ progress.
