Township liquor options approved
CALCUTTA — Two St. Clair Township establishments seeking Sunday liquor sales will soon get their licenses following approval from township residents.
Based on complete but unofficial results released Tuesday evening by the Columbiana County Board of Elections, voters approved the requests by Dunne Manning Stores and the El Paso Mexican Grille–both located along state Route 170–for licenses to sell liquor during certain times throughout the week.
Dunne Manning Stores, which operates as UniMart No. 4762 and is located in the St. Clair Southwest precinct, requested the approval of two licenses: the sales of beer, wine and mixed beverages to take place Monday through Saturday, and a second involving the sales of wine and mixed beverages between 11 a.m. and midnight on Sundays.
The Monday through Saturday option received close to 61 percent approval, while the Sunday option passed with 55 percent of the vote.
El Paso Mexican Grille, located in the Dunham’s Plaza in Calcutta, also requested for approval of the sale of beer, wine, mixed beverages and spirituous liquor to take place between 10 a.m. and midnight on Sundays. This option received a 62 percent approval.
Voters in the Calcutta Precinct had previously approved weekday liquor sales for the restaurant.
