Fewer voters in Columbiana County than 2012

LISBON — Fewer Columbiana County residents voted in the 2016 presidential election than four years before, although the 70 percent turnout remained the same.

Approximately 46,216 residents voted compared to 46,740 in the 2012 presidential election. The figures exclude whatever last-minute absentees remained uncounted along with any provisional ballots, which are those cast election day but are not counted until voter registration questions are resolved.

The record since 1980 is 49,249 ballots cast in the 2004 election, although the highest turnout in percentage terms was 76 percent in 1992.
