CHESTER — The Newview CEOS met on March 7, to learn about the Appalachian healers known as “granny ladies.” The lesson, presented by Janet Keller, was well received by club members and a large contingent of visitors.

Donations were collected and sent to Operation Gratitude to be included in care packages for our armed forces.

The newly formed Banner Committee brainstormed ideas for a new design for the county banner, Betty Tanaka updated members on her coming trip to the WV State Folk Festival as the Hancock County Belle, and discussions were held concerning CEOS week and the recruiting of new members.

The club’s next meeting will be on April 4, at 11 a.m., at the Hancock County Senior Center when the lesson will be on Monarch Butterflies.

Participants will learn about the life cycle and migratory patterns of these little winged jewels, as well as how to support local monarch butterfly habitats.
