EAST LIVERPOOL — TOPS 1390 met March 12 at the Oakland Free Methodist Church located at 1551 Etruria Street. The meeting opened with TOPS and KOPS pledges. Minutes and treasurer’s report from March 5 were read and approved.
Vesta Ferlaino was the weekly best loser and Karen Brereton was the runner-up.
Chocolate is the no-no for the week.
Ferlaino was recognized for losing 20 pounds.
Jonnie Carnes won the 50/50 drawing, Ferlaino won the dimes.
The calorie chart drawing was held over and will be worth double next week.
Three names remain in the check contest and the contest “Go For The Green” continues. Members were reminded to wear green every week during the contest.
The annual awards ceremony will be held on April 30. Winners must be within five pounds to be recognized.
Brereton played dictionay with those in attendance. Everyone was given a gift for participating.
Mildred Elliott volunteered to do the program next week.
The chapter meets every Tuesday with weigh-in at 4 p.m. Visitors, new and former members are always welcome. For information, call 330-385-2736.
The meeting closed with prayer requests and the Lord’s Prayer.
EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool Area Seniors met for a short meeting March 14 with seven members present.
President Jean Tomlison welcomed everyone and asked for a scripture reading from JoAnn Fickes. Prayers, pledges, and singing followed.
Secretary Fickes checked attendance and read the minutes of the March 7 meeting.
Treasurer Gail Grimm brought us up to date on club funds and stated no new bills were submitted this week. A collectionn and donation was taken for the FISH Organization.
The 50/50 was won by Lois Burris.
The next meeting will be held March 21.
Closing motions were made by Dorothy Poole and Jana Lawrence.
Members sang “The Evening Prayer,” and the closing prayer was by Fickes. Members are urged to come. Bring a sack lunch.
Presbyterian Women’s Association
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Presbyterian Women’s Association from Grace Church met March 11 in the church social rooms.
Moderator, Jane Rose, opened with prayer and led the group in reciting the Presbyterian Women Purpose.
The Martha Circle had the devotions.
Secretary and Treasury reports were given by Leah Bosco and Nancy Tice.
Mission Chairman, Phyllis Conley, gave a report on Heartbeat of Columbiana County and also read a letter from Ken and Sue Sawka who are missionaries in Africa that the group supports.
Nancy Downard, Secretary of the Beaver Creek Church Camp, thanked the group for financially supporting the Opportunity Camp.
Blanket Sunday will be on May 12.
The group discussed the possibility of participating in the “Ray of Sunshine” which is sponsored by Community Hospice. A decision will be made next meeting.
Lunch was served by the McLain Circle.
The next meeting will be May 13. The McLain Circle will have devotions and the Martha Circle will have the lunch.
