LISBON — Lepper Library in Lisbon is forming an adult writing group with the first meeting 1 p.m. Dec. 16. Goal is to bring local writers together to talk about writing, publishing, and to work out details for future meetings. Call the library at 330-424-3117 for more information or to register.

EAST LIVERPOOL — Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by The Beacon Association, is 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at 202 Maplewood Ave. Menu includes eggs, home fries, pancakes, sausage, bacon, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, or milk. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for ages 5-10 and free for ages 4-younger. Photos available with Santa and “Buddy,” the elf. Proceeds assist The Beacon Association with community events such as Special Olympics, Relay For Life, Pottery Festival, city cleanups, Haunted House, Christmas parade/light up night, and scholarships for the four area high schools. A 50/50 drawing and a raffle item also available.

EAST LIVERPOOL — As a part of The Compassionate Friends World Wide Candlelight services, the local support group “The Broken Branch” will gather Dec. 10 in the Dawson Family Center.

The idea being “the light of children who have died will travel around the world in a 24 hour period.”

Each family whose child has died will light a candle in their memory promptly at 7 p.m. in successive time zones. Each candle burns for one hour.

Members of Broken Branch will share a cover dish dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a brief service and lighting candles. No charge to attend. Attendees also may bring a photo, poem, or other item to share about their child.
