Hancock County Museum Commission

NEW CUMBERLAND — The regular meeting of the Hancock County Museum Commission was called to order at 6:05 p.m. at the museum by President Vivian Weigel, who also led in the pledge to the flag.

Those attending were: Weigel, Janet Keller, John Brenneman, Greg Blake, Veronica Blake, Tom Zielinsky, Bob McNeil, Alice Mitchell, and Doris Cameron.

Keller moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as mailed by Secretary Cameron; Zielinsky seconded and motion carried.

Treasurer McNeil presented an oral financial report. Report will be placed on file for audit when printed.

McNeil reported attending the County Commissioners meeting and offering a full report of our annual activities and improvements and offered thanks for their continued support of the museum.

Committee Reports:

Building – Blake reported repairing both the front and the back door bells. Several other minor fix-it jobs were completed. He also reported the chimney repairs have been completed and work is very satisfactory.

Old Business:

McNeil submitted a report on Directors and Officers Insurance being added to our current policy. After a thorough search, our current carrier (Paull Assoc.) appears to have the best policy to meet our needs. Brenneman moved we accept this offer; Keller seconded and motion carried.

Museum By-Laws – Zielinsky researched original information concerning our current By-Laws and presented a report of Critical Dates leading to the incorporation of the Hancock County Museum and how we are connected to the Hancock County Commissioners. He has offered to check with an attorney concerning our specific needs in relations to our 501c3 status before making By-Law changes.

New Business:

Plans for our Dec. 10 Open House were finalized featuring an accordion concert by Zielinsky, a Christmas Carol sing-along, and of course, Christmas goodies.

Thanks was expressed to all those who did such a beautiful job of decorating our museum for the holidays and especially our president who coordinated this effort.

The business of the day being completed the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be held March 1, 2018, weather permitting.
