Pastoral anniversary celebration
WELLSVILLE — Pastor Darren and First Lady LaTonya Rogers will celebrate their second pastoral anniversary at First Baptist Wellsville, 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.
Pastor Cheryl Ruffin and her choir from St. Paul A.M.E in Pittsburgh will be the afternoon guests. New Hope Male Chorus also will minister through song.
Pastor Rogers was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. “His life was transformed when he received the good news and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at the age of 17,” he says.
Married 32 years, the couple live in Bell Acres Borough near Sewickley, Pa. They are the parents of Jasmine, Darren Jr. and Christa.
Pastor Rogers earned a Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, holds a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Park University. He is a volunteer chaplain at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh. He serves on the board of directors for Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He will begin serving as the newly-appointed president for Wellsville Ministerial Association in January 2018.
LaTonya has been working as the controller for Sewickley Family Office Group, a real estate accounting company, and she serves as a member of the advisory board for Tri-State Bank. She is also the co-founder of the PA Elite Girls Basketball Club and actively involved in the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation PA/WVA chapter.
Pastor Rogers and his wife are committed to the Word and the Work of God at First Baptist Church of Wellsville.
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” 1Co 2:10
When it comes to the people of First Baptist Church and the Village of Wellsville, Pastor Rogers often says, “The best is yet to come!”
