EAST LIVERPOOL — This log house built by the Esterday family in 1867 will soon be leaving its 150 years of residence in Columbiana to its new home at The Pioneer Village at Beaver Creek State Park. Family member, Cindy DePillo, has been living in the old log home until just recently. Wanting to preserve its rich history of the area, she has donated it to The Friends of Beaver Creek State Park. The volunteer group was very appreciative and excited for the offer, having lost the Williams House in 2013, due to a lightning strike; it would definitely be a welcoming site in the vacant spot that only memories occupy. After a year of meetings with state park officials we were finally granted permission to move the structure to the land leased by The Friends group. Although donated, The Friends still have many financial obligations to meet including state permits, engineering and architectural requirements, foundation and the disassembling and reassembling of the house.

The Pancake Breakfast, set 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Sept. 17 has been dedicated to raise funds for the house. Menu includes all-you-can-eat buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes, made with our own Gaston’s Mill stone ground buckwheat, 2 sausage links and choice of beverage. Cost by donation. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so by sending it to Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, PO Box 2063, East Liverpool, OH 43920 and designate house fund.
