Oldtime Fair opens Friday

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Hancock County Oldtime Fair is Sept. 15-17 at Tomlinson Run State Park.

Each year, WVU Extension is “proud to be a part of the fair, and we hope that you will join us,” a release states.

Friday, Sept. 15, begins with the annual Tractor Parade. Saturday, Sept. 16, will feature many contests, including the volunteer firemen competition, homemade pie contest, Kidz Kookie Kontest, tractor games, and Barnyard Olympics (for “kids” 3-93). The Kids Pedal Tractor Pull begins at noon at the basketball court, and a pie eating contest will be held at 4 p.m.

Also Saturday, from 2-4 p.m., at the 4-H tent will be free activities such as corn hole, learning about the sun, and making a grass head. Meet some of volunteers from 4H, CEOS (Community Educational Outreach Service), and Master Gardeners.

Sunday, Sept. 17, the day begins with a church service at 10 a.m. Also scheduled Sunday is tractor games, Barnyard Olympics, and a cornhole tournament. The American Classic Car Show begins at noon.

Entertainment includes “Blame the Whiskey” on Friday; the sounds of “Touche,” the “Oak Glen Band,” and “Rt. 45 Country Band” on Saturday; and “Classic Country Rewind” and “Banana Fish” on Sunday

Many food and drink vendors will be on hand. Other vendors will have games and information about many local organizations.

The Fair Board asks visitors to bring a donation for the FISH Pantry. Admission is free on Friday, and only $1 per person Saturday and Sunday. Parking is free.
