Fidelis Gamma Chapter celebrates Sapphire Sisters

WEIRTON — The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of WV Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Teacher’s Sorority met at noon on Sept. 7, 2017, at Williams Country Club in Weirton, W.Va. President Ruth Fuller called the meeting to order and welcomed special guest WV Alpha Delta Kappa State President Ginger Greene to the meeting. The room was decorated in festive fall decor, and the hostesses for the meeting were Liz Pugh and Diane Higgins.

Fuller welcomed all members and she lit the memory candle to remember those who could not attend the meeting. Chris Snyder shared the September birthdays – Mary Ann Bucci and Bonnie Queses. Pat Accettolo shared the devotions from “Live Each Day With a Grateful Heart” -words of inspiration and gave the blessing. Carolyn Allison presented an inspirational reading on “What Do You Have in Common With a Pencil?”

State President Ginger Greene assisted President Fuller and President Elect Snyder with the Sapphire Sister Ceremony. Sapphire Sisters were Accettolo and Juanita Smith with 35 years, Allison and JoAnn Kerr with 39 years, and Janet Benzo with 44 years. A candle was lit for each member, and they received gifts.

The minutes were given by Benzo, and the financial report was given by Allison. Accettolo reported on the altruistic projects, Liz Pugh and Allison reported on the audit, Fuller reported on communication, and Allison reported on Membership. Jerry DeFilippo shared information on the ADK 70 Anniversary (Aug. 1947- 2017.)

Diane Higgins attended the International 2017 Convention in New Orleans and gave several highlights of the event.

Protocol Chairman DeFilippo, President Fuller, President Elect Snyder, and Past President Allison attended the WV Council of Presidents in August at the Robert H. Mollahan Center in Fairmont, W.Va. Snyder gave highlights of the meeting and shared upcoming dates and events. During the session , Fidelis Gamma Chapter received two awards : Allison shared the awarded certificate for MEMBERSHIP , and Fuller shared the awarded certificates for “7 PEARLS.”

Fuller distributed corrections, changes, and additions to the information in the Yearbook.

Members shared their Comments and Concerns for the good of the group.

Our next meeting will be held at Williams Country Club on Oct. 5, 2017, and the hostesses will be Snyder, Allison, and Lisa Subrick.

The group certainly enjoyed having State President Ginger Greene attend the monthly meeting. A donation will be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in her honor.
