The Class of 2017, the 17th class of Leadership Columbiana County, held its graduation ceremony recently. Graduates completed nine sessions over a nine month period in addition to a team project that generated over $8000, which is donated to local charitable organizations.

Graduates include: Debbie Kempers, Melissa Jackson and Carol A. Hively-Miller all of Columbiana County Job and Family Services; Jody Burt and Christine Malloy, Community Action Agency; Alysia Kuny, Heritage Thermal Services; Andrew Burch, Columbiana County Farm Bureau; Brian Keefer, Fresh Mark; Josh Martin, Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities; Katy Mumaw, Farm and Dairy; Kayla Rolston, Crestview Local School District; Kennie Baker, Consumers National Bank; Tammy Buckel, Columbiana BPW; Heather Kance, Community Hospice; Jamie Benner, Salem Regional Medical Center.

Leadership Columbiana County originated by donation after the disbanding of the former Columbiana County Progress Council who was responsible for the promotion of business development within Columbiana County. Modeled after successful leadership programs across the nation, LCC trains “students” in leadership skills, project management, team building, goal setting and communication in addition to exposing them to the many facets of industry, government, education and health and human services in Columbiana County.

Oversight of LCC is conducted through a 15 member board made of up community leaders and program graduates that meet monthly to guide operations. Board members include: Gloria Tritten-Matthews, Pres.; Kelly Wetzler, VP; Melissa Dwyer, Secretary; Kennie Baker, Treasurer; Jenny Rukenbrod, Immediate Past President; David Vollnogle, Julie Needs, Mary Ann Dickson, Mike Mancuso, Monica Allison, Greg Smith, Danielle Dillon, Deb Kempers, Josh Martin, and Atty. Shawna L’Italian.

A Junior LCC curriculum is being developed. Katy Mumaw of Beloit has been selected to direct the inaugural class which begins with an abbreviated session scheduled to kick-off in January of 2018.

Applications are now being accepted for the LCC Class of 2018. More information can be found on the LCC website at www.leadershipcolumbianacounty.com or by contacting LCC Director Amanda Frost, 330)853-2639.
