NEW CUMBERLAND — On June 14, 2017, twenty-six members entered the fellowship room filled with colorful balloons and decorations to celebrate everyone’s birthday. President Carolyn Allison gave each member a “Birthday Blessing” poem. Special recognition and gifts were presented to Marian Caine, Betty Glenn, Ella Louise Herron, Velva Jones, Roni Poling, and Pat Silbaugh.

Following the blessing by Linda Marsh, delicious refreshments, including a beautiful birthday cake and ice cream, were served by hostesses Patty Bruce, Terry DeLong, Ruth Fuller, and Eileen Snyder.

Olivia Jones from Fort Myers, Fla., and granddaughter of member Velva Jones, was a guest.

Vice President Lisa Subrick began the business part of the meeting with reading the Devotion titled “The Comfort of God’s Strength.” Secretary Nancy Conkle read the May minutes, and Treasurer Carla Fryer presented the financial report.

Nancy Wright, Scholarship Chairman, announced that Oak Glen High School Senior, Allison Click, was awarded the 2017 Scholarship. She told of Allison’s activities at the school and at her church, and of her plans to pursue degrees in Elementary and Special Education at Fairmont State University.

Betty Glenn gave a report on the number of cards she had sent from the members since the May meeting.

It was decided to participate in the New Cumberland River Fest in September with the “All Sports” theme containers.

Concerns and Joys were shared by the members followed with prayer by Marsh.

Theme baskets brought by members were successfully sold to the highest bidders in the “Fun Time” Auction. Nancy Wright served as the auctioneer and was assisted by Joyce Beatty.

The meeting was adjourned by members reciting the benediction.

The Aug. 9, 2017 picnic meeting will be held at the home of Carolyn Allison.
