Aubrey Brookes, a 3rd grader from Southern Local Elementary, made her annual birthday donation of $750 on March 12, to the Penguin’s Pack, a local non-profit organization which helps families caring for loved ones with cancer. She is the daughter of Michelle (Clutter) Brookes and the late George Brookes Jr. On Feb. 18, she celebrated her 9th birthday with a party at Simply Sweet Cakes Banquet Center in Wellsville. Her only request was for people to bring in monetary donations. Last year she made the decision that instead of receiving gifts for her birthday she would pick a charity and make donations to them. She gave almost $300 to the Columbiana County Dog Pound. Miss Brookes would like to say a special thanks to Ashley Haddox, owner of Simply Sweet Cakes, Giovanna Sullivan, who started the Penguin’s Pack and to the many friends and family who donated to such an amazing cause. If you would like more information on this organization, find them on Facebook under Penguin’s Pack.
